Medo's endless journey – The love for a lost friend 🐾💔

Medo is no ordinary dog – he is an adventurer, a sailor and, above all, a loyal friend. He lives aboard Kirana, a beautiful sailing boat that cuts through the waves of the Mediterranean. Most of the year Medo sails with us – with Sheila, Michael, Miro and his four-legged companion B’Elanna – from harbour to harbour, from island to island. But there is one place that means more to Medo than any other, and that is Krk. 🌊❤️

Medo came to us in 2022 under difficult circumstances. His previous owner, a man Medo loved more than anything, died in January 2022 (perhaps already in December 2021). This person was Medo’s first and only friend – someone Medo loved more than words can express. When he lost him, Medo lost a piece of himself. 🥺

Since then, we have become his new family, and we have given him a home. A special home – one that floats and sails, a life at sea. We love him with all our hearts, and we make sure he lacks nothing. Medo lives on Kirana – he is part of our crew, always on deck, always by our side. Yet although we love him and he is safe with us, there is a place in his heart he has never forgotten: the town of Krk, where he once lived with his previous owner. 🏠💔

Every time we return to Krk with Kirana, I see something in Medo’s eyes – something both beautiful and sad. The joy of being back in familiar waters, the tireless hope that perhaps one day he might find again what he has lost. When we get close to Krk, Medo changes. His eyes take on that expression, his ears stand up, and he knows exactly where he wants to go. 🌅

Medo is drawn to the streets of Krk. He knows every corner, every path, every alley – these are the routes he once walked with his previous owner, and the places that carry memories that mean so much to him. Sometimes, when we have arrived and Medo is allowed ashore, he sets off. He wanders through the town, following the trail of his memories. Sometimes people see him alone, a dog apparently walking around without a destination. But Medo is not lost, he is not wandering aimlessly – he is searching. He is searching for someone he lost, someone he will never forget. 🐾❤️

Medo has a home. A home on the sea, a home on Kirana. We take good care of him. He wears an AirTag, so we always know where he is. Medo loves having his little adventure, being on his mission, and we give him the freedom he needs. Because although he is with us now, we know that this freedom matters to him – the freedom to say goodbye in his own way. 🌍💔

There are so many places where we have been with Medo – Pula, Pomer, Switzerland – and yet he has never shown the urge to run away, except here in Krk. Krk is the place where his memories are anchored, the place to which he returns again and again. The place where hope lives that perhaps one day he might find again what he has lost. 💞

For the people who see Medo walking through the streets of Krk: please do not be afraid of him. He is a gentle giant, a dog with a big heart and a great sadness that he is processing in his own way. He would never hurt anyone. He is only searching, only loving. And at the end of his journey, when his paws grow tired, he always comes back to us. Back to his new family, back to his place on Kirana, where he is loved. ❤️‍🩹

Let Medo walk his path. He is not a stray dog, he is a beloved family member, a dog who has a home, but also a past he cannot forget. If you see him, perhaps give him a smile, perhaps a kind word – because this brave dog is on a journey greater than all of us. 🐾❤️
